It all began fifteen years ago, when Sustrans was awarded £43.5 million by the Millennium Commission Lottery fund to create a network of cycle routes.
Since then, the Network has grown in size year on year and there are now over 12,000 miles of signed cycle routes covering the length and breadth of the UK.
A third of the network is completely free from traffic and now that the network passes within one mile of 50% of the UK’s population, there’s bound to be a route near you.
The routes are free to use and open to all, making them a great way for you and your family to stay fit and healthy while enjoying a breath of fresh air.
Once you have completed the Virtual Bike Race, why not get out on the network for real? Visit our online mapping to find out where your local routes are.
